„Both Liang Yue and Lukas Pürmayr were spontaneously enthusiastic about the idea of this collaboration resulting from a written conversation, which was to lead to a publication and a double exhibition. Whatsapp was the most suitable medium, as both of them use the program, and soon a lively chat started. The conversation covered topics related to photography, the working practices of the two, as well as their lifestyles, or current events and incidents - interestingly, without making use of the possibility of video calls. The exchange of ideas between the two worked perfectly through written comments and the exchange of snapshots, reproductions of photographic works and scans of Polaroids. In a period from March to September 2021 were mutually created aesthetic assignments, as well as their technical implementation explained, where especially in photography there are numerous secrets, digital or analog tools, camera models and lenses, photo printers, as well as secret short cuts. The work on the artist‘s book and the layout, jointly designed by Liang Yue and Lukas Pürmayr, coincided in the fall of 2021 with a period of intense activity surrounding the realization of various other WHERE ARE WE NOW projects in Beijing. With Liang Yue and Lukas Pürmayr, it never gets boring. Both challenge us. It is this only seemingly superficial intense communication, underlined by the photographs, that makes the book a work of art. One is happy to open it a second and even a third time.
